Your Guide to a Weekend in Flamborough

A Long Weekend in Flamborough: Where to Stay, Walk, Eat & Explore

Planning a weekend away at Cherry Tree Cottage? Flamborough makes the perfect base for a few days of fresh sea air, coastal walks, and great food. Here’s how you might spend a long weekend, from Friday afternoon through to Monday morning.

Friday Afternoon – Arrival, Settle In & Discover Flamborough Village

Arrive, settle into your home by the sea, and once you’re unpacked, head out for a gentle walk around Flamborough village just moments from the cottage. If there’s still daylight, wander down to South Landing, one of Flamborough’s most beautiful bays, for your first glimpse of the Yorkshire coast.

For your first evening meal, keep it easy with Lighthouse Fisheries (a firm favourite of ours), right in the village. Freshly cooked fish and chips are a seaside staple and perfect after a day of travel.

Saturday – Exploring the Coast

Start your day with breakfast in the cottage before heading out to explore the dramatic coastline that makes Flamborough so special.

Popular options include:

  • Flamborough Head Lighthouse, with sweeping sea views

  • Thornwick Bay, a quieter cove ideal for a peaceful wander

  • A longer clifftop walk towards Bempton or Danes Dyke

This stretch of coast is rich in wildlife, and depending on the season you may spot puffins, gannets or seals, so don’t forget your camera.

After all that sea air, treat yourself to a late lunch with a seaview at The Boathouse at North Landing. Known for freshly caught seafood, it’s the place to go if you’re looking to refuel after a long walk.

Later, if you don’t feel like cooking, why not treat yourself to a handmade pizza from Flamborough Pizza or Matty’s Munch? On sunny evenings, you can enjoy it by the beach at South Landing - or take it away to savour back at the cottage.

Sunday – Villages, Beaches & Yorkshire Coast Highlights

Sundays are meant for slowing down. Start with a wander through the village and pop into Scrumdidilliyumptious on the High Street for a relaxed brunch.

If you feel like exploring further afield:

  • Drive 10–15 minutes to Bempton Cliffs RSPB Reserve, home to internationally important seabird colonies

  • Or head to Bridlington Old Town for cobbled streets, independent shops and cosy cafés

In the evening, stay close to Cherry Tree Cottage and choose one of Flamborough’s pubs for an evening meal — The Rose & Crown or The Seabirds are both popular choices for a relaxed end to the day.

Monday Morning – A Last Coastal Stroll

After checking out, squeeze in one last wander. A short walk along the clifftops, or a coffee in the village, is the perfect way to round off your stay.

You’ll head home feeling refreshed, with sea air, wide skies and coastal views still lingering.
